Introducing a coin bank featuring Henri Hippo, an animated character released as a novelty item by the Swedish bank Östgötabanken in the 1970s and 80s.
Hippo means "hippopotamus," and Henri is his name. He's part of a close-knit trio with Hanna (a girl) and Hille.
While Sweden is now one of the world's leading cashless nations, in those days, it wasn't a cashless society. Children would save their small change in coin banks, go to the bank to get a key, have the amount counted, and then receive banknotes in return.
This coin bank would be a lovely accent piece for any room or a charming addition to your favorite corner.
