Here we introduce an owl (including horned owls) figurine, a species that is abundant in Sweden. Each piece is meticulously crafted with attention to the clay, glaze, and firing process.
The design is by ceramist Gunna Hansson.
He was born in Lomma, southern Sweden, in 1913 and passed away in 2007.
He owned his own studio and created many birds and owls. Could these pieces be a couple, or siblings? They are perched amicably on a tree stump, gazing at each other.
This is a magnificent piece, large and heavy, with a powerful presence, almost appearing to come to life. From the beak to the feathers on the back, every detail has been meticulously observed and finished, making it a truly artistic and superb work.
