Introducing a Kronhjort (Red Deer) figurine by Lisa Larson from Jie Gantofta/Atelier.
Jie is a brand with a long history, established in 1942 in the town of Gantofta in southern Sweden. It ceased production in 1992. It is famous for its ceramic plaques with floral motifs and girl figurines.
It may not be widely known, but Lisa Larson was a freelance artist at Jie from 1990 until its bankruptcy in 1992.
During this time, she created Tomte figurines and animal figurines like this one. After Jie went out of business, she established her own ceramic studio in Gothenburg.
This is a rare piece, reproducing the dignified appearance of a red deer, which still exists in the Swedish forests, created for the World Wildlife Fund.
This is a rare piece that is not often seen on the market.
