Jie Gantofta: Round Dog Figurine

This is an adorable dog figurine from Jie Gantofta. The body is unglazed earthenware in a light beige-grey, with glaze applied to its long ears, tail, paws, nose, and eyes. Perhaps because it's a Swedish dog, it has blue eyes. It has a charming, almost amateurish simplicity that is impossible for an amateur to replicate, making it a wonderful piece.
The designer is Annika Kihlman, known for her ceramic plaques featuring flowers and fairytale-like designs.
Her ceramic plaques often feature warm, tactile designs of flowers, berries, and cityscapes, showcasing her unglazed, hand-touched style.
She worked at Jie Gantofta for a short period from 1971 to 1975.
