Arabia/Atelier/Helja Liukko-Sundström/Red Curtains and Black and White Floor

Introducing a small ceramic art tile from Arabia, suitable for wall display.
The design is by Helja Liukko-Sundström.
She joined Arabia in 1962, moved to the art department in 1967, and created many ceramic art tiles. By around 2000, she had produced nearly 200 different works.
Her motifs often combine Finnish nature, wild flowers, buildings, and animals, with rabbits and penguins being particularly common. Her highly artistic works, with their fairytale touch, are very appealing.
This particular piece, created in her atelier, is a very lovely ceramic art tile with a striking crimson long curtain descending onto a black and white mosaic floor, evoking a sense of anticipation as if a stage performance is about to begin. The colors are also distinctly Nordic.
