This is a handmade wooden tomte doll holding milk porridge. Nordic tomtes are very small creatures that usually live in stables, and are not normally seen by humans. On Christmas Eve, it is customary to quietly place a feast of milk porridge next to the stable as a token of gratitude for their constant protection, so tomte dolls often depict them holding milk porridge with a lantern.
